A member of the Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kazemi, said, “The Council of Ministers will vote today on the budget schedules, and then they will be sent to Parliament within a week,” indicating that “these schedules included an addition to the upper ceiling of spending, which amounted to 226 trillion dinars, and there was a measure to reduce these expenditures.” It returned again to 210 trillion dinars, compared to last year, which was 199 trillion dinars.

He added, "The operating budget has increased significantly, and therefore it will be the duty of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives to review it, make observations, and mature it, so that it can be approved under the dome of Parliament," expecting that "Parliament will take a month to pass the 2024 budget schedules."

Al-Kadhimi explained, “The focus will be on the operational budget, and the investment budget will be supported as much as possible, given that the operational budget amounted to 170 trillion dinars, and this is a large number, taking into account the increases in the number of employees and salaries, as 8.5 trillion dinars are allocated monthly for employee salaries and social care.” ", indicating that "there will be a review of the operating budget and an emphasis on the government to increase its non-oil revenues."
