The environment clears large areas of mines in the liberated governorates

The Ministry of Environment has achieved great achievement rates in removing mines and clearing official and residential institutions in the liberated governorates.
Director of the Environmental Awareness and Media Department in the Ministry, Amir Ali Al-Hassoun, told Al-Sabah: The Mine Affairs Department of the Ministry of Environment has achieved high completion rates within its activities related to removing military munitions in the liberated areas, indicating that it began its activities in 2014 and continues to work until now.
He pointed out the intensification of the efforts of the logistical and executive arms to clear all areas in the governorates liberated from military munitions in general, under direct supervision and control by the Mine Affairs Department in particular, pointing out that most of the displaced families returned to their residential areas in the aforementioned governorates during the last period after clearing them of military munitions and restoring life. To it, praising the joint efforts and cooperation between the national effort teams represented by the teams of the Engineering Support Department of the Ministry of Defense and the Civil Defense Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, as well as the Popular Mobilization Forces (Explosives Directorate), in addition to the work of humanitarian organizations and local and international commercial companies specialized in removing these munitions.
At the conclusion of his speech, Al-Hassoun pointed out that the removal of military munitions was not limited to residential areas only, but also included infrastructure projects for government institutions, energy projects, official facilities, and schools, in addition to agricultural lands, health institutions, and others.
