On Sunday, the Baghdad Municipality announced a government plan to move the industrial city outside the holy city of Kadhimiya.
The director of the Holy Municipality of Al-Kadhimiya, affiliated with the Municipality of Baghdad, Ali Hashem, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “there is coordination with the Council of Ministers regarding moving the industrial zone from within the city of Al-Kadhimiya to outside the Baghdad Gate,” indicating that “ The area of the industrial city is approximately 7 dunams.
He pointed out, "Designs for the industrial city will be prepared and it will contain green spaces and a multi-storey park."
He added, "The committee formed pursuant to the Diwani order held several meetings to initiate the transfer of the industrial zone outside the city, in addition to the transfer of some institutions, including the Third Karkh Education Directorate and the Real Estate Registration Department," indicating that "many government departments will be transferred outside the holy city of Kadhimiya."
