The Ministry of Industry and Minerals revealed the existence of requests to establish pharmaceutical factories, while indicating that the products of the General Company for the Manufacture of Pharmaceuticals cover only 15% of the Ministry of Health's needs, indicating at the same time that the medicines and preparations produced by the company amount to nearly 300 preparations.
The Ministry's spokesperson, Dhuha Al-Jubouri, said: "The General Company for the Manufacture of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies, affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, continues to supply the preparations produced within the company's factories to the Ministry of Health and to the private sector." She
explained that "these preparations produced by the company are prepared according to demand and according to the contracts concluded between the two parties," stressing that "the number of preparations produced within the company is approximately 270 preparations, including drinks, pills, capsules, ointments and drops."
Al-Jubouri pointed out that "there are preparations for treating diabetes and treating pulmonary failure, and there are also preparations for treating high blood pressure, treating stomach ulcers and arthritis, and there are many preparations produced by the company."
Al-Jubouri confirmed that “the production of all pharmaceutical factories in the private sector, and the General Company for the Manufacture of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies with all its production, only covers 15% of the needs of the Ministry of Health and the market, but there are many requests that have been submitted to the Ministry of Health to establish pharmaceutical factories, and this will raise the percentage to cover more than the share of the Ministry of Health.”
