Alwan indicated that "the works included in the aforementioned project include the rehabilitation and maintenance of a factory specialized in the production of medical alcohol, and it was considered the first of its kind and the most important in the country, and it has been suspended for more than 20 years," returning its products to "important medical supplies as they are involved in several chemical and pharmaceutical industries."
He continued, "The past years witnessed a rise in the demand for alcohol due to its importance in preventing the Corona pandemic, which prompted citizens to acquire and consume it in abundance and import it from abroad, due to the increasing need for it from health institutions of all kinds in addition to citizens."
And the director of the Samarra Pharmaceutical Company indicated in the same context, that "what has been presented has prompted the company to conclude investment contracts with local companies and import production lines for the alcohol factory, which is expected to be fully completed within 18 to 24 months," noting that "the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers is negotiating with specialized companies." regarding the rates of its production capacity, and another concerned with the installation and operation of its production lines.
As for the rest of the factories that will be included in the investment plan, he explained that they “also include the production of penicillins, lotions, (dry vials), creams, and ointments,” specifying the start date of production for the aforementioned factories as “the end of next year, which will be collected under the name Samarra Pharmaceutical Factories.” He asserted that "the company will be among the first companies to export medicines after modernizing its production, developing the technology of its industries, in addition to introducing new ones."
