The Media Office added that “the Commission continues to evaluate the measures of government institutions in combating corruption, which Al-Sudani stressed,” noting that “the National Strategy for Integrity and Combating Corruption was based on the foundations of analyzing the corruption environment in Iraq and the requirements for combating it, identifying its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and taking into account its consistency with the priorities of the ministerial program adopted by the government,” adding that “the strategy also focused on raising levels of integrity in performance, and clearly and accurately defining general objectives and corruption phenomena, in addition to setting national indicators to measure integrity and the level of corruption, and the existence of institutional mechanisms to implement, follow up and measure the progress made on national indicators and the competitive position between government institutions on the one hand and their employees on the other hand; To determine the most honest institution and the best institution in providing services to citizens and providing honest employees.”
The Media Office continued, “The Authority will intensify its procedures within the (Transparency and Preservation of Public Money) program, especially with regard to what the Prime Minister directed regarding transparency in contracting, or facilitating procedures for citizens,” stressing that “the Authority worked to establish the sanctity of public money and protect it as a social culture, and to establish the principle of transparency in appointment and assuming positions in state institutions, and to encourage citizens in general, especially public sector employees, to report cases of corruption, and to emphasize providing adequate protection for them,” explaining that “in order to achieve this, it carried out field visits to state institutions; their number during the past year reached (221) field visits that included (21) administrative formations in (13) ministries and entities not affiliated with a ministry.”
He continued, “The Commission will enhance its efforts in combating corruption, pursuing its perpetrators, following up on the financial liabilities of taxpayers, and establishing a culture of integrity, which the Prime Minister identified and praised for the distinguished efforts of the workers in the Integrity Commission, describing it as having established hope among the general public that there is a real will to combat financial and administrative corruption, and commending the work of the Commission and its steady increase.”
