[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Ministry of Justice stressed the government's interest in strengthening the role of oversight institutions on public money and human rights.
Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani, who is in charge of managing the affairs of the Human Rights Commission, said during the joint workshop on the human rights-based approach in anti-corruption efforts, today, Wednesday, in Baghdad, that "the Integrity Commission and the Human Rights Commission are among the most important bodies that aim to guarantee and protect human rights, especially the economic rights of citizens."
He added, "The government program headed by Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has placed combating financial and administrative corruption among its priorities in all sectors, so it has been interested in strengthening the role of oversight institutions on public money and human rights," indicating that "these steps come from the Iraqi government's conviction that combating corruption is a collective responsibility, which is not complete without the participation of all segments of society and the support of national and international bodies by raising awareness in combating corruption and spreading the values of transparency and mitigating the impact of corruption, in addition to coordinating with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education to include curricula related to human rights and combating corruption."
He explained, "The Human Rights Commission has given an important aspect in its programs to working seriously, sincerely and honestly, and providing advice and expressing opinions on national legislation, as well as the principle of obligating the state with its three authorities to implement Iraq's obligations before the committees concerned with the international agreement to which Iraq has joined. The Commission has also been keen on national, regional and international cooperation with the UN agencies working in Iraq, such as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and all its affiliated agencies." / End 5[/rtl]
