Mawazine News - Baghdad
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed, on Tuesday, the continuation of the work of the Iraqi-Egyptian Committee and his direct follow-up of the progress it is making, while stressing that the government is based on Iraq's supreme interests in the issue of developments in the region. The
Prime Minister's media office stated in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, at Alamein Palace," noting that "during the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, and the importance of developing joint cooperation in various fields, in a way that enhances the mutual interests between Iraq and Egypt. The meeting also addressed regional and international issues of common interest, most notably the continued Zionist aggression against our Palestinian people in Gaza."
The statement added that "the meeting touched on the war on Gaza, and stressed the right of the Palestinians to establish their state with Jerusalem as its capital," indicating that "during the meeting, extensive discussions were held that included joint files, especially the fields of oil, agriculture, and water management, as well as within the framework of tripartite cooperation with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The discussions also touched on the overall situation in the region, where the two presidents stressed that regional developments require continued coordination between the two countries, and with the rest of the brotherly and friendly countries." Al-Sudani
pointed out - according to the statement - "the depth of the relationship between Iraq and Egypt, which has made significant progress in terms of distinguished cooperation, and what it constitutes as a pivot that benefits the two brotherly countries, as well as the stability of the region," stressing "Iraq's keenness to cooperate and open up to Egyptian companies, especially in the fields of housing, agriculture, and water management," noting "the continuation of work in the Iraqi-Egyptian Joint Committee, and its direct follow-up of the progress it is making, especially cooperation in the oil transformation industries."
Al-Sudani stated that "a stable Iraq is a strength for all brothers and friends in the region," stressing that "the Iraqi government proceeds from Iraq's supreme interests in the matter of developments in the region," affirming that "Iraq is capable of being a meeting ground for the countries of the region and friendly countries."
Regarding the war on Gaza, the Prime Minister stressed that "the silence of the international community encouraged the Zionist entity to cross all red lines," praising "the efforts made by Egypt in the field of working to cease fire."
For his part, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed "his pride in Iraq and his keenness to fully cooperate in various fields," stressing that "a strong Iraq is a pillar of the region and Arab countries."
He pointed to "the convergence of visions regarding joint cooperation, and the existence of a clear political will in the two countries towards integration," praising "the government's measures to establish stability, development and economic openness at the level of the countries of the region and the world."
The statement noted that "at the end of the meeting, President al-Sisi hosted a luncheon in honor of al-Sudani, in the presence of members of the official delegations."
