    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The head of the Strategic Center for Human Rights, Fadhel Al-Gharawi, said on Tuesday that the game (PUBG) and other combat games caused a billion dollars to leave Iraq through the purchase of charging cards, support, and accounts.[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Gharawi said in a statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News" that the value of the profits of the "PUBG" company in Iraq for the year 2023-2024 amounted to 60 million dollars and that the highest account sold amounted to 25 thousand dollars, indicating that the game, which is active on the smartphone version, has become a phenomenon among those under 25 years old, who constitute 60% of Iraqis who use it to the point that they have become known as the "PUBG generation", in addition to a large percentage of women, especially housewives, and children under the age of 6 years.[/rtl]
[rtl]He added that the game is addictive and one wants to play it all the time. Also, the game causes the person to become aggressive, and generates all kinds of aggressive and violent behaviors, noting that the game causes a decrease in the student's academic level, and reduces the productivity level of the working person, as he spends most of his time playing it. It also affects human health because it requires spending long hours in front of the screen. As well as the lack of sleep hours for most of its users in Iraq.[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that sitting for long periods in front of the phone screen increases feelings of lethargy, laziness, heart and circulatory problems, and spinal pain. Engaging in the game consumes the nervous system, causes headaches, weakness, vision problems, and numbness in the extremities. For children who develop through movement, play, and discovery, this game delays their development and affects their physical, psychological, and mental health.[/rtl]
[rtl]He went on to say that the most important problems of addiction to the game "PUBG" in Iraq are family problems due to many spouses and their children living within the game space away from the family, in addition to the increase in cases of domestic violence and the increase in the delinquency of some of their juveniles into crime, and its draining of large resources from the Iraqi family.[/rtl]
[rtl]According to Al-Gharawi, a number of cases of divorce, traffic accidents, suicide and domestic violence were recorded in Iraq and were caused by addiction to the game “PUBG”.[/rtl]
[rtl]The head of the center called on the government to take strict measures to ban PUBG and other combat games due to their severe harm to the family, children and society and the economic losses they cause, and to launch an awareness campaign about the dangers of combat games.[/rtl]
