    Al-Zawraa/ Mustafa Fleih:
    The Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee confirmed that there are differences over the Oil and Gas Law, but they will not prevent its approval, while indicating that it will be fair to the oil-producing provinces.
    Member of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, Muhannad Al-Khazraji, said in an interview with “Al-Zawraa”: “As for the Oil and Gas Law, there is always an emphasis on its approval in this fifth session, and the law, being one of the important laws, needs some time, discussions and amendments in its formulation, especially since this law concerns the oil wealth in the country as a whole.”
    He added, “Committees were formed on the government side, including the Ministry of Oil and the Prime Minister, and several paragraphs of the law were discussed, specifically those related to the shares of the producing provinces,” stressing that “the law may see the light and reach Parliament soon within this legislative term or the next.”
    He pointed out that “there are obstacles to the law because it is important and concerns the oil wealth, which is today the main pillar of Iraq’s and the people’s revenues. Therefore, there are disagreements and obstacles, but they will not stand in the way of approving or preventing the law from being drafted properly.”
    He explained that “we cannot limit the disagreements to a specific aspect because most of the parties represented by political parties and participants in the political process have an opinion, and this proposal and discussion is a healthy state to reach a convincing final formula that is very good and regulates the work of the oil and gas wealth, and its impact will be positive on the country and the people,” noting that “it will do justice to the oil-producing provinces,” and stressing “the efforts of the committee and parliament to” approve it in this session.[/size]
