    Hussein Al-Karaawi, head of the popular movement's organizing body for the Belt and Road Initiative, accused the government of throwing itself under the American cloak to ensure its continuation in power, noting that Washington's allies have obtained many projects inside Iraq.

    Al-Karawi told Al-Maalouma, "All the governments that took control of affairs in Iraq made concessions in order to guarantee obtaining a second term and continuing in power at the expense of Iraqi blood."
    He added, "The government has moved towards the American axis by implementing projects that serve Washington's interests, most notably the Aqaba pipeline project, and ignoring the Belt and Road Initiative with China and moving towards the development project."
    He explained that "all the countries of the American axis obtained investments and projects inside Iraq, in addition to the fact that the government implemented everything the American side wanted, and came under the American cloak." End 25N
