    Today, Thursday (August 22, 2024), the leader of the Anbar Alliance, Muhammad Daham, commented on the crisis of choosing the Speaker of Parliament, holding the Progress Party, headed by the dismissed Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, responsible for the delay in this file.
    Daham told Baghdad Today, "The crisis of the parliament presidency came about because of the dismissal of Halbousi, and the Progress Party is still responsible for the crisis, as it claims that it has the right to choose the alternative."
    He added, "After failing to choose a new candidate for the presidency of parliament, the Progress Party is obstructing the election of an alternative. They do not want an alternative, whoever it may be. They are the cause of the crisis and the loss of the component's entitlement."
    Independent politician Muhannad Al-Rawi revealed, on Wednesday (August 21, 2024), that the dismissed Speaker of Parliament, Mohammed Al-Halbousi, fears the election of any new Speaker of Parliament .
    Al-Rawi told Baghdad Today, "Mohammed al-Halbousi fears the election of any speaker of parliament, even if he is from his own party," indicating that "he does not want any speaker to rise after him for fear that he will compete with him for his political and electoral influence, and for this reason he is obstructing the election process ."
    He explained that "Halbousi's obstruction of the election of the Speaker of Parliament is not because of the election of a person from outside his party, but rather because he is not satisfied with the entire process," adding: "Therefore, any solutions proposed by any political party are objected to and the issue is obstructed ."
    The narrator of the article held Halbousi "responsible for the Sunni component losing its highest position in the Iraqi state."
    Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani is the closest 
    But the Coordination Framework confirms its determination and the rest of the political forces to decide on the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives after the end of the Arbaeen visit.
    The representative of the framework, Mukhtar Mahmoud, confirmed to "Baghdad Today" on Wednesday (August 21, 2024), that "there is a determination among most of the political forces, headed by the forces of the Coordination Framework, to decide on the election of a new speaker of the House of Representatives after the end of the Arbaeen visit without any delay, as there is no justification for this delay ."
    He added, "Candidate Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani has become the closest to assuming the presidency of the House of Representatives after the Azm and Sovereignty Alliances announced their support for him, and this means that there is a clear Sunni majority supporting him in addition to support from other political blocs ."
    On the 13th of this month, the Azm and Sovereignty Alliances announced their support for the nomination of MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani for the presidency of the House of Representatives.
