The Ministry of Electricity has threatened to take deterrent measures against those who tamper with meter readings and those who are negligent in wasting energy costs.
A statement from the ministry said, “The Minister of Electricity chaired a meeting that included a number of general managers, assistants, and sales officials to discuss energy sales, their costs, and the mechanisms being implemented, as well as discuss the energies supplied, consumed, sold, and collected for each branch and each sector, and monitor and follow up on their data in an ascending manner.”
He explained that “the government’s approach calls for the necessity of paying attention to the fact that these energies cost the state sums that must be recovered and collected,” threatening to take deterrent measures against those who tamper with meter readings and those who are negligent in wasting energy costs.”
He added, “These costs are public funds through which the purchase of governing materials to maintain the electrical network, and the completion and rehabilitation of projects is secured,” directing work to compare the tables of the prepared and collected energies monthly, and to send the conformity data and the fund’s account statements to the Economic Department.”
He stressed that “the ministry intends to work on smart conversion of the electricity grid, which will be provided (without any increase in prices and tariffs for citizens, industrialists, commercial, agricultural and domestic, including the same subsidized tariff for investment complexes).”
