Economic experts often discuss Iraq's financial situation in conjunction with the challenges facing the country when every crisis or problem intensifies in the Arab region and the world, and through the studies undertaken by the Ministerial Council for the National Economy, especially Iraq's financial situation, which imposes a new commitment to confront the challenges witnessed by the region due to security tensions and their repercussions on economic affairs, whether at the local or international level, as the issue of discussing the government's monetary, financial and economic policy does not depend only on activating work according to the oil revenue account, but rather enhancing non-oil revenues in all fields and elements of the local economy, including the transportation sector in general and the air sector in particular, which all developed countries of the world consider a growing economy by all standards, and through reviewing the vision of economic policy and the financial and monetary reality of the country, due to its positive repercussions on increasing revenues and their continuous flow into the country.
The issue of achieving the best ways and reaching the best effective solutions will put Iraq in a stage of financial stability and a growing economy in the face of urgent challenges. Naturally, this will only come through the implementation of the law and instructions of sound financial management and the organizational and administrative procedures undertaken by the government to distribute these revenues between the operational and investment expenses of the ministries and bodies concerned with this issue to secure the means to support the state’s general budget; this is because most financial experts’ readings indicate the existence of continuous fluctuations in global oil market prices and expectations of their impact on the factors of troubled international security.
The government steps aimed at maximizing non-oil revenues and launching new financial reform packages were based primarily - to a large extent - on the most important principles of the reform program in the field of maximizing the country's general budget funds, as it set well-studied goals for them in order to increase their contribution to the total revenues generated from economic activities with huge financial returns, of which air transport is the most important factor causing income and wealth within the continuous and inexhaustible activities practiced by all countries in transporting materials and goods, in addition to transporting people as is known in their usual daily activities, especially since the Ministry of Transport has revealed the revenues of Iraqi Airways and the increase in the number of aircraft that have been returned to work within its efforts aimed at improving the level of services and advancing the tasks undertaken by the ministry's formations, including the activities of the airlines, after the flights that were implemented during the month of August alone reached (2372) flights, an unprecedented number in decades, and this indicates the remarkable progress in the number of flights.
Among the stages of strengthening the work of the national carrier is the opening of a new direct air route between Baghdad and the Emirate of Sharjah, which will be implemented during the current month of October, with four weekly flights, to enhance communication between Iraq and the United Arab Emirates and provide direct flights for passengers in a manner that meets the operational plan to develop the civil aviation sector and expand the international flight network in line with the plans and objectives of strengthening trade and tourism relations between Iraq and the countries of the region and the rest of the world and providing multiple transportation options for passengers.
