A large (and rather deep) M7.2 earthquake has struck the Northwest Pacific in the Russian Kamchatka / Kuril islands region located North of Japan, West of Alaska.
Originally began as M7.3, now revised down by 0.1  .

    _______
The depth of the earthquake was measured at 161km , which is EXACTLY 100.0 miles .
In the past, when we see deep movement below the Northwest Pacific, we usually see follow up shallower larger activity to the West Southwest from the locations North of Japan.
The day(s) before the large Nepal earthquake last year, we saw a series of deep earthquakes occur in North Japan / Kamchatka Russia.  A warning was issued in the days leading up to the Nepal earthquake which killed thousands of people.
We have seen this develop several times, deep events in the NW Pacific , causing shallow large earthquakes along the Himalayan range.
Keep watch in adjacent areas to the West, Southwest, and East for possible compensation movement.
It is worthy to note that we just saw a large earthquake in Alaska less than 1 week ago, measuring in at M7.2 as well.  It should be obvious that the Pacific is in a state of flux yet again (due to deep movement below the plate).
1/29/2016 — Large Northwest Pacific Earthquake — M7.2 strikes Kamchatka Russia Alaska-russia-earthquakes-jan-2016Above: Over the past 7 days up to Jan 29. 2016, we now see two separate M7.2 earthquakes have struck the North Pacific spanning several thousand miles distance. Proof that seismic pressure is transferring over vast distances over a short amount of time.
    _______
If we look at the past 7 days of M5.0 and greater earthquakes around the Pacific, you can clearly the see area to the South gave way with large swarms of M5.0+ events, and the area to the North compensated with two large single events.
1/29/2016 — Large Northwest Pacific Earthquake — M7.2 strikes Kamchatka Russia Past-7-days-m5.0-and-greater-jan-29-2016Above: Past 7 days of M5.0+ earthquakes up to Jan. 29, 2016 11pm CT – Clearly the area to the South moved heavily over the past several days. The area to the North compensated with two large releases (so far). The area on the Eastern side of the Pacific must be under heavy stress — which just caused two back to back M5.0 earthquakes off the coast of California.

    M7.2 – 91km N of Yelizovo, Russia
