Commerce Minister Salman Jumaili signed with the US ambassador to Iraq , Stuart Jones on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding on the purchase and supply of US rice to support the ration system.
The US ambassador during the signing a memorandum of understanding , according to an embassy statement received by all of Iraq [where] a copy of it, " the intention of the US Embassy to promote the tenders rice export declared by the Iraqi Ministry of Trade between the supply of US rice that can meet the Iraqi market to better the needs of the companies."
Said Ambassador Jones "memorandum of understanding is this win - win situation for Iraq and the United States alike, it is also an indication of the possibility of strengthening the trade relations between our two countries so as to achieve the maximum for our peoples economic benefit."
He added , "the Embassy of the United States is committed to providing technical support for the development of the Ministry of Commerce officials expertise in the field of purchase of agricultural products from the global market. "
this memorandum comes within the trade and investment framework Agreement between the United States Government and the Government of the Republic of Iraq 's efforts to develop trade and investment relations, and work will be a memorandum of understanding for a period of six months with the possibility of renewal, as any of the can parties to stop working out whenever they want.
