    United States, announced Tuesday that Iraq had made progress in complying with the United Nations Convention against corruption, while stressing the need for the development of judicial staff and infrastructure, and keeping records of the judges, the Judicial Council, stressed that Washington is concerned with the provision of technical assistance to the Iraqi judiciary.

    He said u.s.     (newsletter).The Governments of Iraq and the United States held, in
    Baghdad on Tuesday, a meeting of the Iraqi-American Committee for
    inter-agency coordination (JCC) on law enforcement and judicial
    cooperation, within the strategic framework agreement concluded between
    the two countries.

    According to a statement by the US Embassy
    received (News Agency) a copy of the meeting chaired by the President of
    the Supreme Judicial Council judge Hassan Al hamiri and Assistant Chief
    of Mission of the Embassy of the United States Ambassador James Knight,
    Embassy charge d'affaires Ambassador Douglas Silliman, who delivered
    the opening speech of the meeting.

    The statement said the Iraqi
    delegation at the meeting, which included representatives from each of
    the higher judicial Council and the Ministry of the Interior and the
    Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of human rights and the Ministry of
    State for Parliament and the Office of the legal adviser of the Prime
    Minister, the u.s. delegation also included representatives from the
    State Department and the Justice Department and the FBI.

    The two
    sides stressed the importance of continued close cooperation in matters
    of law enforcement and the judiciary, as they review the assistance
    provided by the United States in the development of the judicial system
    and the police, prison administration and anti-corruption institutions
    in Iraq, which were intended to support the Iraqi Government to achieve
    further strengthening of the rule of law in Iraq.

    During the
    meeting identifying ways to expand cooperation in order to strengthen
    the efforts of the Iraqi Government in promoting access to justice for
    women, children and vulnerable groups and against gender-based violence,
    as well as the fight against trafficking in human beings and raising
    the effectiveness of police training institutions, it said.

    The
    statement noted: that the United States is financing programs to provide
    training and technical assistance to help the Iraqi judiciary to use
    modern systems to manage litigation and save data systems, as well as
    promoting judicial security and strengthen the performance of the Iraqi
    police in order to stabilize the security situation and to support the
    efforts of law enforcement and curbing criminal and terrorist activities
    and raise the professional level of prison management and audit
    capabilities to Inspectors General in Iraq and promote compliance with
    the United Nations Convention against corruption.

    The statement
    added: as Washington helping Iraq in its efforts to combat money
    laundering and terrorist financing and to improve recovery and support
    the Iraqi Government in raising citizens ' awareness of their legal
    rights and how to access to judicial institutions and cooperation
    between civil society organizations and the justice and security sectors
    in Iraq, and to assist the Government of Iraq in its efforts to promote
    knowledge on trafficking in human beings, and staff training on how to
    identify victims and provide them with assistance and protection, as
    well as improve coordination between government agencies in their
    efforts in the fight against Trafficking in human beings, and raise
    their capabilities in the application of Iraqi law on combating
    trafficking in human beings, and the support of civil society for the
    empowerment of women and other vulnerable population groups to access
    legal services and assistance.

    And Iraqi delegations expressed,
    their commitment to hold the next meeting of the Joint Coordinating
    Committee on law enforcement and judicial cooperation, in November of
