7 Things To Do Every Day Empty 7 Things To Do Every Day

Listen, we’re not the boss of you and we would certainly not say you have to do any or all of these things. However, we would like to gently suggest you at least consider adding one or more to your daily routine. We think you’ll be glad you did. (If you’re not, stop. How easy is that?)

1.  Make your bed.
Patsy Clairmont says this was a first step in her recovery from agoraphobia—and if you’ve seen her on the BELONG stage you know how impressive that recovery was. Making your bed instantly makes your bedroom look neater and if you do it first thing, then you start your day with a win.

2.  Do something nice for someone else.
It doesn’t have to be big:  let someone in front of you at the checkout line, smile at someone you don’t know, dash off a quick email praising good service you received from a business . . . going a little out of your way can make a big difference.

3.  Move your body.
You don’t need to run a marathon, just do what you can with what you have. Take a walk down the street. Stretch. Anything is better than nothing.

4.  Think happy thoughts.
You get to choose what you think about, you know, so why opt for negative options when “you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.”* Add a little pixie dust and you might even fly. (Hey, it worked for Peter Pan.)

5.  Eat something healthy.
You may already be doing this, but some of us “eat like an 8-year-old boy; nothing but chicken strips and fries.” (That’s a direct quote from a recent BELONG staff dinner; we won’t mention any names but you know who you are.) If healthy eating is not a priority for you, add at least one nutritious option every day. Your body will thank you.

6.  Get quiet. The world is filled with loud voices. Find a way to shut them out and still your soul, even if just for a few minutes. Breathe a prayer and listen for the answer.

7.  Appreciate your people.
Notice them. Look for even more reasons to love them. Then share those reasons with them.

What would you add to the list?
