Al-Badri said in his interview with the program (Publicly) broadcast by Al-Sumaria TV, “We are surprised by the Arab silence regarding what is happening in[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Lebanon, which is supposed to see all Arab and Islamic efforts combined, even with condemnation or denunciation (the least we can do), but the positions are timid and the reactions were not at the required level,” stressing that “the government’s position and the Prime Minister’s speech at the United Nations has an echo and we support it.”
He added, "Iran advised America and Israel to stop the attacks, but they did not care, so the response came in a way that gladdened our hearts, but the region or the world is heading towards events with dire consequences, and at any moment we may head towards a war in which everyone will lose," noting that "the positions of the Security Council are not serious in all previous events, and all the countries that have membership in it have had negative responses, except for Russia and China."
He continued: "Iraq is striving to be the party that rejects and denounces, but when the confrontation begins, it will certainly be a party to it, and the Arab countries were and still are taking the role of spectators," stressing that "the main reason that helped Israel violate the sanctities and increase the attacks are the Arab rulers, and it would have been appropriate for them to have a clear and frank position, but we are not surprised by what they are doing now, and America is an essential part of what it is doing."
He pointed out that "in the event of a confrontation breaking out in the region, then[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]It will not be far from it and there is political unification of official positions, but as for the unofficial ones, it is natural for some positions to be issued from here and there,” explaining that “the government was serious about the file of the withdrawal of the international coalition and made great strides and the Iraqi negotiator succeeded in this file, but regarding their remaining in the region, it contradicts the position of the government, considering that it is the one concerned and there must be coordination between the governments of the region and the center, and it is possible and natural that America will break its agreements if things go in another direction regarding what is happening in the region now.”
He pointed out that “the parliament is in session, but there are important and sensitive laws that require the presence of the Sunni component in the presidency position.”[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Because it is their right,” indicating that “the lack of a quorum in the session[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The reason for this is the disagreement over some laws, including the return of lands in Kirkuk. Signatures were collected to withdraw this law and to satisfy it, as it requires study and the spending of funds, which may cause a Kurdish-Arab-Sunni dispute, in addition to including an amendment to the Personal Status Law, which is considered one of the most prominent disputed files.
He continued, “The Personal Status Law has been distorted by media platforms and embassies, and therefore it is an Iraqi affair, and there is no harm if it is satisfied with discussion in order to pass it, and we, as representatives, support this trend,” adding that “Al-Maliki seeks to bring together all Sunni parties in order to reach a real agreement on the position of the President of the Republic.”[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]However, due to the events that the region has gone through, no consensus has been reached on a specific figure, and the Sunnis support the idea of amending the internal law to exclude Al-Issawi and Al-Mashhadani.
He continued by saying: “The framework’s position is unanimously to support Al-Mashhadani for the position, but there is a Sunni party that is going against this matter, and therefore this file must be resolved quickly, but we are not against Al-Issawi,” noting that “there is only one year left in the life of this government, so we do not see a need to go to early elections, despite the government’s commitment to this paragraph in its government program that all political blocs agreed upon, so the political process is supposed to proceed with the government to the next elections, and there is room for the return of the Sadrist movement, who left a great impact when they withdrew.”
He added, “There is a vision by some parties to change the election law with an extension of the commission, considering that its actual life will end in the first month of next year, or to choose a new commission, and if we go for the second option, the commission will certainly not be able to catch up with the early election process.”
He explained that “the targeting and defamation mechanism has become a tradition in unfair competition, which is unacceptable, and some political blocs go in this direction, sometimes through the media and other times from within the legislative institutions, so we hope "Some of them conveyed the truth as it is."
Al-Badri called on the Iraqi street to look at "what the judiciary issues towards any party, but there are parties seeking to drag the highest authority in the country into this arena for the purpose of bringing down," noting that "the framework, after meeting with the prime minister on the eavesdropping issue, agreed to wait for the judiciary's opinion, and when the framework takes a position towards the government, some interpret it as fears of obtaining a second term, and everyone knows that this matter is not determined by elections, but by political agreements."
He explained, "There is a tangible effort in the current government, but it is not at the required level due to the great challenges it faces, and some intersections may occur, but that does not mean that the political blocs are against it, and Al-Sudani has absolute freedom to change his ministerial cabinet, and we are awaiting these changes without knowing the ministers who failed in their positions."
Al-Badri warned against "the exploitation of political money in the elections, and some governors succeeded in this file, as well as some political blocs," adding, "There is a trend towards amending the election law or amending a paragraph on the current one with the exception of the prime minister, which is that administrators, governors, ministers and representatives submit their resignations 6 months before the elections so that the institution they work for is not exploited for their electoral propaganda.
" He concluded, "The next stage will determine whether Al-Sudani will actually go towards an alliance with Masoud Barzani and the Sadrist movement or not, because there is ambiguity in the political scene now and it is too early to announce the mechanism of alliances and agreements," adding that "Al-Sudani must provide clarification regarding arming the Peshmerga with modern artillery, and anyone who carries a weapon outside the framework of the state is considered a threat to societal peace, and the government must seek to end this file."
