Yeah, there was a game yesterday where the Senators sat out half of their roster to rest bumps and bruises and/or avoid injury, and the Islanders beat the Senators 4-2. The only thing that did was prevent the Senators from reaching the 100 point mark.

The only thing left to be determined for them was who they were going to play in round 1, and that was something that they would have no control over.

And for a while it looked like the Battle of Ontario was going to get another installment after being dormant for 13 years. But, after building a 2-0 lead on the Blue Jackets, and the crowd at the ACC chanting "We want Ottawa", the Maple Leafs proceeded to run out of gas and the Blue Jackets scored three unanswered to beat Toronto and relegate the blue team to the 2nd wild card spot and a date with the Washington Capitals.

Which means, that for the first time ever, there will be a playoff series between the Ottawa Senators and the Boston Bruins. I will have a full preview tomorrow or Wednesday ahead of Game 1 on Wednesday night, with game 2 not until Saturday afternoon, but for now will open the floor to comments and predictions in the comment section, and probably some trash talk, which should be more mild than it would have been had Toronto picked up a point last night.

Ottawa won all 4 games in the regular season, including an important shootout win in the final week of the season that not only clinched a playoff spot for the Senators, but that extra point also was a big difference-maker in Ottawa getting home ice advantage in this series.
