Nasraoui: The threats made me leave Iraq

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Basra's outgoing governor, Majid al-Nasrawi, said he had received threats of liquidation after announcing his decision to resign on Thursday. Nasraoui stressed that the threats he had received prompted him to leave the country, saying that "the post protects the official" and that he lost it after the resignation. He extended the text of the letter addressed to the governor of Basra: "
To the people of Basra, the honorable
after I have made myself not to disclose what is going on behind the scenes of direct targeting us and try to beat us in any form from the false papers presented to the Integrity Commission, And not files that have moved from others.
But the methods used to prove the charges were illegal, with an unprecedented number of employees, contractors and others being arrested, tortured, coerced and threatened to confess to us but to no avail.
We have evidence and documents proving that those arrested have been subjected to torture and coercion. Human rights organizations have been aware of these abuses.
When I resigned, I wanted to show the public that if I had to pressure others and I would comply with the judiciary as a citizen, I would be satisfied that there was fairness in Iraq.
But within one hour of my declaration of resignation I received the threat and intimidation of me and my fear of the arbitrary measures that I had followed with other citizens and staff to follow me where it turned out that the inhibitor in the past is the position of governor for this left the country forced.
This is so dear to me that I would have stayed in my city, served my country and was close to the Iraqi judiciary as a citizen, but in Iraq, the post is the one who protects the official.
Once again I apologize to my family and loved me in Basra.
