The parliamentary regional committee on Saturday expected to pass the amendment of the election law in the first session of the House of Representatives, indicating that the political blocs agreed to resolve the issue of Kirkuk elections by voting within the parliament.

Committee member Ahmad al-Badri said in a press statement that "the first session of the House of Representatives after the completion of the holiday of Eid al-Adha will witness the passage of the amendment of the electoral law in full."

He added that "the political blocs agreed to pass the government's proposal on the number of members of the provincial council and local councils as well as some points of disagreement."

He added that "the political blocs agreed to put forward several proposals on paragraph 37 of the electoral law and the election law in Kirkuk and choose one of them according to the political majority without opposition parties the rest."
