At the request of Baghdad .. Iran closes its air border with the Kurdistan region

A spokesman for Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Kiwan Khosravi, said Sunday that at the request of the Iraqi government, all flights to Sulaymaniyah and Erbil airports have been suspended and the passage of planes from the Iraqi Kurdistan region through Iranian airspace has stopped.
Khosravi said that "the failure of recent political efforts to Iran and the insistence of officials in the Kurdistan region of Iraq to hold the referendum has been closed the Iranian air border to flights originating from the Kurdistan region of Iraq at the request of the Iraqi government in Baghdad."
"According to that decision, all Iranian flights to the airports of the Kurdistan region of Iraq have also stopped."
Khosravi noted that hasty decisions by some officials in the Kurdistan region of Iraq would limit the ability of the Kurds to influence and constructive dialogue in the sovereignty of Iraq and make the security of the Kurds, Iraq and the region face serious challenges as well.
