    The leaders of the Catalonia region announced their intention to move forward in the referendum on independence from Spain , despite Madrid intensified raids and the threat of sanctions on the region. 

    "We will go to the end," the head of the north-eastern region of Spain, Carles Pochedimon, confirmed Thursday during a meeting with representatives of the educational centers where the polling stations will be held, two days before a referendum on the secession of Catalonia, which was blocked by the Spanish judiciary.

    Bouchedimoun stressed that he has "full responsibility" with the government for organizing the vote. 

    For weeks, Catalonia authorities have been trying to hide ballot boxes and ballot papers for fear of being confiscated by the central authorities. It also works to open websites to enable voters to know where the polling stations are for the referendum.
