    [ltr]The International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor said there was a "logical basis" to believe that British soldiers committed war crimes in Iraq after the US invasion in 2003.[/ltr]
    [ltr]"After a thorough legal assessment of the information available, there is a logical basis to believe that members of the British armed forces committed war crimes against detainees," Fatu Ben Suda said in a report.[/ltr]
    [ltr]The 74-page report was published at the time of the sixteenth annual session of the States members of the Rome Statute establishing the International Criminal Court.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Earlier this year, the British government decided to abolish a body charged with investigating allegations of human rights abuses committed by British soldiers in Iraq, the British defense ministry said.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Amnesty International immediately criticized the decision, saying violations committed in Iraq "should not be forgotten."[/ltr]
    [ltr]Some 120,000 British troops served in Iraq during the war, and the last British soldiers left Iraq in 2009 but London kept a limited number until 2011 to train Iraqi forces.[/ltr]
