Washington: Our bases are led by Iraq and this is the remaining elements of the call

A spokesman for the Washington-led international coalition against the terrorist organization said Tuesday that coalition estimates indicate fewer than 3,000 members of the group are still in Iraq and Syria.

Earlier in the year, the so-called succession that the organization announced in Syria and Iraq collapsed with the loss of the cities of Mosul, Raqqa and other areas.

"The current estimates indicate that there are only 3,000 or so elements left, and these are still a threat, but we will continue to support the forces of our partners to defeat them," US Army Col. Ryan Dillon said on Twitter.

Dillon was part of his responses during an online Q & A session in which he said the coalition trained 125,000 members of the Iraqi security forces, including 22,000 Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

When asked whether the United States intended to establish permanent military bases in Iraq or Syria after the defeat of the organization, Dillon said his country did not intend to do so.

"No," he said. "The Iraqi government knows where and how many coalition forces are here to support a staggering defeat. All bases are led by Iraq. "
