German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said on Tuesday that an intelligent exit for Britain from the European Union would be a model for other non-EU countries such as Turkey and Ukraine.
Gabrielle told the German media that "Turkey and Ukraine can benefit from the formula of relations with the European Union, which is agreed with Britain."
"He does not see the possibility of the two countries joining the European Union in the short term, so they can, as he put it, benefit from closer cooperation in the areas required."
