A Saudi newspaper revealed on Wednesday a crisis between Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Interior Minister Qassim al-Araji, pointing out that Abadi had rebuked al-Araji for what he considered to be interference in the affairs of the army in Sulaymaniyah.
"Abadi rebuked al-Araji yesterday for his involvement in the affairs of the army in the vicinity of Sulaymaniyah, and to ask the military units not to move towards the villages and towns surrounding the governorate," Okaz newspaper quoted a source familiar with the sources as saying.
The sources added that "Araji told Abadi that his intervention prevented armed clashes between the Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga forces, which was about to attack Iraqi forces, and is preparing to take control of one of the roads linking the towns of" Jalawla and Clara ", after the Peshmerga refused to hand over control in these areas "He said.
The sources pointed out that "the intervention of Araji was not a formal request, but was a personal act, which angered Abadi, who considered what the Minister of Interior exceeded the limits of his work, which failed the progress of Iraqi forces, which had been prepared to advance control of a vital path to end the control of the Peshmerga. The Prime Minister asked Araji to withdraw the Iraqi police forces of the Ministry of Interior after being deployed between the two sides to prevent any armed confrontations. Ending / 25
