International Coalition: Our forces rehabilitated 126,000 Iraqi fighters

    Translated by Hamid Ahmed

Canadian Defense Minister Harge Sagan says he expects the Canadian Armed Forces Command to come out sometime this year with options for future Canadian troops in Iraq.
This came at a time when Iraqi and US military commanders and the international coalition also said that the military operations against Daqash had ended in the country after being defeated.
But some coalition officials have already determined the nature of their future activity and the tasks they will carry out in Iraq after the completion of the military pillar.
Retired Gen. Terry Wolf, of the US military, currently the deputy special envoy of the International Coalition Against Da'ash, said in a recent statement to his fellow officers that the focus would now be on humanitarian assistance and reconstruction services in the affected areas of Iraq, which was under Daesh's control.
"The destruction of Mosul and other liberated areas has not been seen since the Korean War or World War II," General Wolf said.
The US general said huge efforts were needed to neutralize and remove large numbers of improvised explosive devices left behind by an organization behind him, asserting that the mission "may take decades to complete."
For his part, British General Fraser Lawrence, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Joint Land Forces said in remarks quoted by the newspaper Ottawa Citizen, that the coalition forces can provide security in the areas that have been retrieved from the Daash while Iraqi forces continue to target and pursue small pockets of militants still exist Defeat the organization in the country.
"Over time, it is likely that you will see an increase in focus on the training side as the military support effort to support Iraqi forces in their ongoing military operations decreases, and you will see a change in the training strategy and this change or transformation has begun," General Lawrence said.
US Defense Secretary James Mattes said last week that US forces in Iraq, as well as other coalition forces, would change their strategy by moving from offensive effort and logistical support to training efforts and supporting stabilization operations in liberated areas. IEDs and unexploded ordnance from liberated areas and assist the civilian authorities there to rehabilitate electricity and water purification systems while helping to reopen schools and work with local police forces.
He added that the coalition will continue to work with the Iraqi government in training the army and police forces and develop the side of the intelligence effort required to detect the pockets of armed and urging them to launch attacks.
"We want to get our training for the Iraqi local forces, from the army and the police, to take on their own the task of pursuing a preacher, but at the moment the effort is a kind of military intelligence effort at a time when local police forces are trying to carry out internal security operations, And therefore there will be the authority of law and stability in the liberated areas, and I am sure that the rest of the militants will not be able to stand up to the Iraqi security forces. "
The International Alliance issued a statement in early January, in which he pointed out that there is a need to require the survival of the coalition in Iraq and Syria for the purposes of training and the stabilization of the two countries.
"Coalition participation will be largely focused on continuing to train Iraqi forces, which will in turn provide security to their people and secure their national borders," said General Felix Gidney, deputy commander of the International Coalition against Da'ash. So far, the support of the international community is vital to the overall defeat it has brought to the region. "
