26 companies compete for oil concessions in border areas

The Oil Ministry said on Friday that 26 companies had qualified to compete for oil and gas concessions in border areas.
The ministry said in a statement that "five companies have recently qualified to participate in the bidding round along with 21 other companies had already been selected."
In November, Iraq called on foreign companies to compete for contracts to explore oil and natural gas reserves in nine new concessions, as the OPEC member sought to increase production capacity.
The bid conditions will be completed no later than the end of May, and the opening ceremony will take place on 21 June.
