    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The State of Law Coalition commented, today, Wednesday (September 18, 2024), on talk about American concern about the presence of offices for the Palestinian Hamas movement and the Yemeni Ansar Allah (Houthis) in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
"We do not know the extent of the truth of the existence of official offices for Hamas and the Houthis in Iraq. There is no official confirmation of this, and there is no justification for American concern. This matter is considered interference in Iraq's internal affairs. Iraq has complete freedom to allow any party to open an office if there are official approvals for this," coalition leader Saad al-Mutalibi told Baghdad Today.
Al-Mutalibi explained that "if there is any official office for Hamas or the Houthis, these offices will not be military or security, but rather media and relations offices, aiming to gain moral and humanitarian support." He continued, "The Iraqi constitution prohibits the presence of any armed foreign force on Iraqi territory, and prohibits Iraq from being a launching pad for aggression against any country, and this is why American concern is unnecessary and is an unacceptable intervention."
Earlier today, Tuesday (September 17, 2024), the US State Department commented on the opening of offices for Hamas and the Houthis in the capital, Baghdad, while warning against pushing Iraq into regional conflicts because of these groups .
"The presence of Hamas and the Houthi movement in Iraq is an added danger to the armed groups in the country, which have an interest in using violence to undermine the Baghdad government's goals of achieving stability, and it also pushes Iraq into deeper regional conflicts, " US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said during a press conference.
He added that "the US position is very clear towards Hamas and the Houthis, as it considers them terrorist organizations," noting that "there are concerns that Washington has shared directly with the Iraqi government about their presence in Baghdad ."
Commenting on the attacks on US diplomatic facilities in Baghdad, Miller said, "Washington expects the Iraqi government to hold accountable anyone who takes action against US forces in the region."
Local media quoted political sources as saying that the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) opened a headquarters in the Al-Jadriya area in central Baghdad  .
According to the sources, a delegation from the movement led by Abdul-Malik al-Houthi made a field visit to sites belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces north of Baghdad .
The representative of the Ansar Allah movement in Iraq, Abu Idris al-Sharafi, visited the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces, north of Baghdad, and appeared in a video clip praising the Popular Mobilization Forces and thanking the "Iraqi Islamic Resistance."
Al-Sharafi also visited a number of southern Iraqi provinces, accompanied by leaders of the Popular Mobilization Forces, and met with various tribal and religious leaders, according to what the sources confirmed.
