    The head of the parliamentary bloc Ammar Tohma, on Saturday, that the parliament has no right to decide or diligence in the issue of holding elections on time. 
    "Article (56) of the Constitution stipulates the election procedure, The new House of Representatives 45 days before the date of the end of the previous electoral cycle, and since the end of the current electoral cycle will be on 30 June 2018, the date of elections to the new parliament does not exceed 15-5-2018. 
    Article 7 (1) of the Elections Law of 2013 states that the elections of the Council of Representatives must be held 45 days before the date of the end of the previous electoral cycle at least. 
    Second: The date of the elections shall be determined by a decision of the Council of Ministers in coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission, endorsed by the House of Representatives and issued by presidential decree and announced by all media before the scheduled date for a period not less than 90 days.
    Article 56 of the Iraqi Constitution states: First: The duration of the electoral cycle of the Council of Representatives shall be four calendar years, beginning with the first session and ending at the end of the fourth year. 
    Second: The new Council of Representatives shall be elected forty-five days before the date of the end of the previous electoral cycle. 
    "Article (13) of the Constitution stipulates that" No law may be enacted that contradicts this constitution. "In other words, Parliament can not legislate a date for the elections of the next parliament beyond the date of May 15," he added. 
    "It is not permissible to legislate a law that extends the work of parliament, because it is a clear violation of the text of Article 56," he said.
