    MP of the coalition of state law, Abbas al-Bayati, on Monday, the comments made by French Justice Minister Nicole Pelopi, which threatened military intervention in Iraq, if the Iraqi authorities issued a decision to execute the death of fighters calling for French nationality.
    "This is part of the sovereignty of Iraq, and we will not tolerate or interfere with it," Bayati, a close associate of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, said.
    "We have heard some statements from French officials, but so far nothing official has come to us from the French embassy. We are dealing on the basis of official positions, not media statements," he said.
    "No one will be allowed to interfere in the affairs of the Iraqi judiciary and its verdicts against al-Dawash," he said, adding that "those who came to Iraq were killed, looted and destroyed, and they will be held accountable and punished under Iraqi law."
    French Justice Minister Nicole Peloubi confirmed on Sunday that Paris would "intervene militarily" if death sentences were imposed against French militants being tried in Iraq and Syria .
    "Of course, if it comes to the death penalty, the French state will intervene militarily, " the minister said during a political program organized by French media .
    In response to a question about what can be done in this case, the minister said that it is especially possible "to negotiate with the State concerned, to be done on a case-by-case basis ."
    The remarks came in the context of a debate in France over French citizens who joined armed groups in Iraq and Syria and were arrested by the authorities of these two countries .
    The French government says so far it supports the trial of those French nationals in the countries where they are detained, provided that a fair trial is held .
    "As Minister of Justice, I am of course fully committed to a fair trial," the minister said Sunday.
    On January 22, a German gunman was sentenced to death in Iraq .
    French armed lawyers detained in Iraq have asked French President Emmanuel Macaron "to fully mobilize (to defend them)" if they are sentenced to death .
    According to a source close to the file, camps or prisons in Iraq and Syria include several dozen Frenchmen with dozens of minors .
