    Information / Special ...
The Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday announced the Foreign Ministry's intention to reduce and close a number of diplomatic missions in Latin America and some African countries next year.
"According to the austerity measures and based on plans drawn up by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry will dispense with a number of consulates and diplomatic missions in a number of countries in Latin America and Africa," said Muthanna Amin Nader, member of the committee.
He added that "these countries do not have many interests with Iraq and can be used to walk things through the embassies of Iraq in nearby countries," noting that "the decision will also include the closure of a number of embassies and commercial and scientific attaches in some Asian countries."
