Iraqi Presidency issued a decree on Monday to conduct the upcoming parliamentary elections on 30 of next April.
The decree put an end to the ongoing debate about a possible postponement of the elections after the parliament failed to pass the election law over the past weeks.
The gap of sharp differences has decreased on the terms of the law and now it is limited to compensatory seats and how they are distributed to the provinces of the country .
An informed source told “Shafaq News” that “ the Office of the Vice President , Khodair al- Khuzaee issued a Republican decree to select 30 of next April, as a date for parliamentary elections .
The political blocs have suggested to postpone the parliamentary elections while the blocs didn’t agree on its terms and passed it in the parliament session today.
The important laws take a long time to be passed because Iraq depends on the compatibility among the political blocs to enact such laws , which already affects the performance of the legislative authority.
There are several important laws such as oil and gas law in parliament as differences stand as a barrier from being passed.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
