    - Vice President Nuri al-Maliki criticized on Monday the possession of "militias" and "gangs of organized crime" on the arms, and returned "illegal".

"The illegal disarmament of militias and organized criminal gangs should be disarmed by the state, to ensure security, political and security stability, and to reassure people of the power of criminals," Maliki said in response to journalists' questions about his position on the spread of weapons outside the state.

He explained that "this does not mean depriving the citizen of possession of weapons licensed by the competent authorities, but the unauthorized disarmament of militias before the individual disarmament, which protects the citizen."

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, in a previous statement called on the Iraqi government to disarm in Sadr City and the rest of the cities and provinces of Iraq and its siege by the state, after a massive explosion in Sadr City.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi officially launched a campaign that he said was to limit weapons to the official authorities and the Iraqi state.
