Iraq condemns the "national law" adopted by the Israeli entity
24/7/2018 12:00 AM [rtl]BAGHDAD / Al-Sabah The Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned the so-called "national law" adopted by the Israeli entity, pointing out that the law enshrines racism and undermines the remaining hopes of the peace process and the solution of the Palestinian cause. "This law, by turning it into building settlements and judaizing al-Quds al-Sharif to a constitutional principle, is in flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions," ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub said in a statement received by al-Sabah. "We strongly condemn the so-called national law adopted by the Israeli entity." The Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, which prohibits the transfer and displacement of the population in the occupied territories during the wars, prohibits the occupier from changing the character of the occupied territories, and UN Resolution 2334 of 2016 adopted by the Security Council, which directly criminalizes Israeli settlement and calls for a cessation of violence against cities. He also called on the international community to "activate its decisions and compel the Israeli entity to abandon this unjust law and stop its violations of international law and its repeated attacks on the Palestinian people ." The adoption of the law angered the Palestinian people within the Green Line (48 territories) and drew criticism abroad.
