Ali Al-Hamidawi, head of the Services Committee in the House of Representatives, confirmed that new cities are the ideal solution to end the housing crisis and control real estate prices.
Al-Hamidawi said in a televised interview, followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "Iraq needs more than 5 million housing units to address the housing crisis."
He added, "The new cities will be sufficient to end the housing crisis and control real estate prices."
Regarding the slums law, he pointed out that it "contains major problems and will not be passed before these problems are addressed by the government."
Regarding traffic congestion in Baghdad, Al-Hamidawi stressed the "importance of ring roads to end this crisis," indicating that "the designs of ring roads have been complete since the 1980s," noting that "the ring road included in the 2023 budget will revive dead areas."
