    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities set, on Tuesday, the dates for the remaining projects of the first package to relieve traffic congestion to enter service, confirming that two of them will soon be opened, while at the same time indicating the adoption of a new strategy for referring road projects.
The ministry's spokesman, Nabil Al-Saffar, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the ministry has adopted a new strategy in referring road projects to overcome the delays and procrastination that occurred in the past, including attracting solid companies to implement such projects, as well as ensuring the financial suitability and efficiency of these companies."

Regarding the projects to relieve congestion, Al-Saffar said that "the Eagles Square project is the largest in it and is one of the most complex and largest designs within the first package of traffic congestion relief projects, as it includes bridges and tunnels," indicating that "the bridge project has been completed and will enter service soon, and the completion rates in the tunnels have reached advanced stages, while the rest of the project's sections will be completed in early 2025 according to the planned timetable, and Eagles Square will be completely free of intersections and there will be smooth traffic flow."

He continued, "Two projects will be opened soon, which are part of the Eagles Square project and the Army Canal Axis project that connects the Jamila area to the Jihad Street area in Bab Al-Moatham. After that, the Aden and Sana'a Square intersections will be opened, as well as the bridge that connects the Al-Saydiya area to Al-Dura and the 77 Jerusalem-Al-Obour intersection, and the Al-Mashan complex that includes a tunnel and a bridge over the Al-Dura Expressway, and the Army Canal Axis linking the Muhammad Al-Qasim Road area to the Baghdad-Kirkuk Road from the Al-Bustan side," stressing that "the projects will enter service at the end of this year."

He pointed out that "the projects of the second package to relieve traffic congestion will be complementary to the projects that will enter service this year within the first package," explaining that "the Al-Sarrafiya 2 Bridge project will be complementary to the Faeq Hassan intersection project, which will form the axis of the movement of Safi al-Din al-Hilli coming from Muhammad al-Qasim from the direction of al-Mustansiriya Square, reaching the Faeq Hassan Bridge and then crossing to the second Al-Sarrafiya, and there is a project for another bridge in the Buratha area that includes the expansion of the roads and streets in this place, and aims to transfer traffic to the Al-Shaljiya Bridge so that the axes of the movement of transportation are sequential."
