The economic sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran will have a negative impact on Iraq because of trade relations between the two countries, economic expert Firas Zuwain said on Tuesday.
"Iraq could be affected by US sanctions against Iran because neighbor countries are based on mutual benefit, any damage to any country that affects one or another of neighboring countries," Zuwain told Iraq News.
He added that "Iraq has strong economic relations with Iran, where the volume of trade exchange between the two countries $ 9 billion, certainly any sanctions imposed on Iran will be reflected negatively on the Iraqi reality," noting that "Iran has very limited alternatives can not stop the export of its industry to Iraq Or to any other neighboring country, but things may differ from before the imposition of sanctions. "
He added that "the embargo imposed by America weighs heavily on Iran and its neighboring countries. The opposition here will be on the part of Iraq more than the Iranian side because Iran has nothing to lose. Iraq also has commercial and political ties with America."
