Agriculture: No reservations to import agricultural crops from any country has no problems that restrict us

The Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that there are no reservations to import agricultural crops from any country that has no problems under the Veterinary Law or the Agricultural Quarantine Law.
"Crops, whether they are plant or animal, are limited by these imports and import controls," he said. "For plant crops, if we have a ban under the agricultural calendar, we certainly will not allow imports."
"If we open the import, we open it by a balance between supply and demand between what exists of a local product or not, so when we open the import, the trader is the one who gives us a request that he imports it from a country and we follow whether this country has determinants or not, And then give the merchant import license under the request and as required in the annual plan.
"We do not have any reservations about any country that has no problem with plant or animal wealth. We are restricted by the veterinary law or the quarantine law," he said, noting that "the private sector and importing companies have an option to go to any country that meets their import needs."
The Ministry of Agriculture announced on Tuesday the opening of the importation of a number of agricultural crops for local needs in accordance with the agricultural calendar, after the importation of tomatoes has been banned for seven months since the beginning of this year.
