The poor economic situation and the high price of gold in Iran, which reached more than 4 million riyals, forced the Iranians to flee abroad to complete the marriage because of the inability to pay the dowry in Iran.
Fatima Zul Qadr, a parliamentary speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, revealed that the increase in the value of the gold coin was a tool for forcing citizens to flee abroad to escape dowry payments.
"Unfortunately this problem has been raised; because of the high price of the national currency against the dollar, and therefore the rise in the price of gold and the price of products increased exaggeratedly."
"Many of the people who had the ability to marry were paying for the gold coin when the currency was less than two million riyals, but after the rise of gold they could not pay," she said.
The fate of the prisoners of the dowry in the state has been low for a while, but at present they are unable to pay the dowry. The proportion of prisoners will increase and become a social phenomenon that is widespread in society.
"People with incomes below 2 million riyals do not have the ability to pay, so there must be a way to draw up plans in the social committee, and of course we do not want to waste women's rights, but we have to look at that phenomenon," she said.
The Iranian official said that there are views based on the abolition of the dowry and the division of funds after marriage, but this opinion raised women parliamentarians in the Council; prompting them to ask the question, "What if the woman divorced and did not get her dues?", Minds that this question is undoubtedly a benefit for men.
"In Europe there is such a law, where women can not be divorced at any time, but in Iran it is almost difficult. Women can not do this easily, so they have to have a dowry so there is a way to guarantee their rights," she said.
Fatima Zul Qadr added that this issue is legal and religious and can not be canceled, but it can be replaced by certain conditions. For example, the house can be considered a dowry.
The representative pointed to the issue of the marriage of underage girls, pointing out that there is a statistic according to the marriage of 344 girls under the age of 14, expressing the hope that the state opens a file to discuss raising the age of marriage of girls.
