Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi directed the Ministry of Interior and the intelligence cell to immediately focus efforts and obtain information on the assassination and kidnapping crimes that took place in Basra and Baghdad.
"These crimes give the impression that behind them is an outline from an organized body whose aim is to breach the security under pretexts to combat the manifestations of deviation and to show them as isolated cases and they do not appear to be," the statement said.
Abadi's directive comes a day after the model was killed in Baghdad on Thursday by unknown gunmen.
The incident follows the assassination of human rights activist Suad al-Ali in the province of Basra. The Interior Ministry said the perpetrator was "free" and declared an investigation into the two incidents.
