Reform: What is the fate of Iraqi funds smuggled abroad?

The Coalition for Reform and Reconstruction on Friday questioned the fate of Iraq's "huge" money smuggled abroad, adding that it could revive [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/1159/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%82%D8%AA%D8%B5%D8%A7%D8%AF %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%82%D9%8A]the Iraqi economy[/url] "significantly", if it was restored, stressing the "need" to reactivate the committee "recover looted funds.
"The billions of dollars have been smuggled out of Iraq, through successive governments, through large corruption systems, which the state has not been able to confront," MP Bader al-Ziadi said in a statement.
"The return of these funds to Iraq will contribute significantly to the reconstruction of the destroyed cities and revive the Iraqi economy as very large sums," the MP said, calling on the House of Representatives to "reactivate the stolen money recovery committee in coordination with Interpol and international organizations."
The Council of Ministers, outgoing, formed at the beginning of this year, a committee to recover money smuggled in the era of the former regime and the current.
