The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Thursday expressed its disappointment over a new Japanese law that prevents the work of Turkish citizens in the country.

"Putting Turkey on the list of countries that refuse the work of its citizens in Japan is disappointing.

"This law does not reflect the friendly and established relations between Turkey and Japan, as well as the spirit of joint strategic understanding that brings together the two countries," he said.

He noted that he was confident that the Japanese authorities would re-discuss the law as soon as possible, and then amend it.

He pointed out that the ministry summoned the Japanese ambassador in Ankara, and informed him of resentment of this law.

The law is expected to come into effect in April.
