Polish Deputy Prime Minister Marek Sussky called on Israel to apologize to his country following a description by Acting Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz of Poland of the anti-Jewish country.
This came in remarks Sussky made to the state news agency Tuesday.
Susky pointed to the need for Israel's apology for these statements, so as not to damage the bilateral relations between the two countries.
He stressed that the statements of the Israeli minister could cause "stagnation" in bilateral relations, and that his country does not accept what he described as "slander".
Kats, acting Israeli foreign minister, had earlier accused Poland of "hostility to the Jews and their people by inciting hatred against them."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Warsaw of complicity with the Nazis against Jews in World War II.
Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Muravski canceled his participation in a summit of the "Visigrad" countries in which the leaders of the countries of Israel, Poland and Hungary, as well as the Czech Republic and Slovakia, scheduled to be held in Israel, will participate on Tuesday.
Moravski dismissed these statements, describing them as racism and an example of hostility to Poland
