    Former Minister of Water Resources Mohsen al-Shammari revealed on Monday the theft of one billion dinars earmarked to combat desertification within the budget of 2019.

    BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Water in Iraq, like money, is being horribly squandered, former water resources minister Mohsen al-Shammari said on Monday.
    Al-Shammari said in a statement received by the agency {Euphrates News} a copy of that "Iraq is far from the global foot in the way of water management," noting that "the Ministry of Water Resources does not have real plans to deal with water." 
    "There are employees in the Ministry of Water Resources who translate the politics of parties and components into the depletion of public money," he said, adding that "there is no social justice in Iraq and the political system works in his favor." 
    He Shammari, that 'the decision in Iraq, however, foreign parties looking for their interest and not the hand of the government', pointing out that 'the billion dinars allocated to combat desertification in Iraq during 2019 was stolen.'
