    Iraq and Saudi Arabia agree to automate customs procedures in the process of trade exchange between the two countries

    The two Iraqi and Saudi governments agreed on Tuesday to complete customs procedures in the exchange process between the two countries.
    This came during the chairmanship of Kazim al-Aqabi, Chairman of the Border Ports Authority, the delegation of Iraq participating in the Saudi-Saudi coordination meeting of the Committee of Transport, Border Ports and Ports, which will be held for the period from 25-23 July at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport and Saudi Arabia in the presence of Iraqi Ambassador to the Kingdom Qahtan al-Janabi.
    He said during the meeting that the two sides discussed the stages of completion of the port Arar border and the completion rate achieved in the rehabilitation of the port and infrastructure, which amounted to 40% and it is hoped to deliver the project in mid-October.
    And discussed the memorandum of understanding signed with the Civil Aviation Authority of both countries, which included work to expand the number of flights and facilitate the procedures in granting visas to owners of vehicles and citizens according to the principle of reciprocity, according to the President of the Iraqi body.
    During the meeting, the joint memorandum of understanding on land and maritime transport was reviewed and paragraph 6 / a of the land transport memorandum was updated. This included allowing the transit of buses loaded to both countries' borders to guarantee the rights of the Iraqi side in the trade exchange process.
    He pointed out that the Iraqi and Saudi sides have agreed to automate the customs procedures through the window of trade exchange to ensure good performance and genealogy in the movement of goods and commodities. The Saudi side expressed its readiness to provide the Iraqi customs with the automation system and help in developing the capabilities of the customs personnel through their participation in training courses to work on This system.
    The two sides will resume their discussions tomorrow to complete the remaining issues on the agenda of the joint committee.
