In a report, Human Rights Watch found an oil spill threatening Basra's population.

The Iraqi government has not said anything that has led to thousands of civilians in Basra hospitals, stressing that the lack of interaction of the Iraqi government with this event is the same shame .

The organization has used satellite images that reveal an oil spill 10 days ago to the Shatt al-Arab near the Ben Omar oil field, the site run by Basra State Oil Company and located about 25 kilometers from the city of Basra.
