The Presidency of the Council of Representatives, on Wednesday, opened an investigation into the events that accompanied the demonstrations on Tuesday in central Baghdad.
The Presidency said in a statement that it "directed the parliamentary security, defense and human rights commissions to open an investigation into the events that accompanied the demonstrations on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in Tahrir Square."
The Presidency of the Council of Representatives stressed on “the freedom of peaceful demonstrations guaranteed by the Constitution in accordance with Article 38, and calls on the security forces to maintain public order with restraint and not to use excessive force with demonstrators.
